Yesterday over lunch with a friend I realized something, actually I realized a few things;
One: Catching up with friends is like needing oxygen to stay alive, a necessity, a vital ingredient of life. Not finding time in our busy lives to catch up with friends, is robbing your life of air.
Two: When bad things are happening around you, and you are surrounded with negativity, start planning things that you know will make you happy, spend time not thinking about the things that make you sad, but those things that you know will bring joy and happiness into your life.
Three: Take back control; the minute my friend suggested to me that one of the reasons I am feeling this constant overwhelming pressure, that feeling that I am close to boiling point of late, is that of all the things in my life causing me angst, most of the issues are out of my control.
We can’t control everything, and I am not that type of person who normally needs or wants to, and while I don’t want to ever become that person, I do need to start controlling some of the things that are making me stressed. Walk away when you need to ( I have preached about this before), take control of your own life where you can.
Lately I keep hearing ‘I didn’t have time to exercise, my work is too busy’. Going out on a limb here – but that’s rubbish! I have also said this in the past; exercise releases endorphins, it gives you more energy, it helps you sleep better and it reduces stress.
Make the time! Why stay back an extra five minutes at work and then miss a workout, working out improves your well-being and improving your well-bring increases your productivity at work – no brainer!
Obviously this is not possible every day, some times you need to stay back at work, just don’t get in that habit, don’t fall into that trap of doing everything for everybody else and nothing for you.
Take control back every little chance that you get.
