As I lie on the couch, an icepack on my ankle, and one on my shoulder; I wonder, what is it is about exercise that draws some of us in – and leaves us craving and needing more?
To me exercise is a way of life, a way to lift me up, to fill me with energy that lasts with me throughout the day. Exercise is an addiction and as those endorphins are released into my body I come alive.
I don’t only exercise for my body, I exercise to fuel my brain. I have injured my ankle and while the recovery is slow and I am getting increasingly frustrated that I have had to minimise my normal exercise routine in order to keep teaching. I feel fortunate that being fit, I am able to actually still teach.
While rest is important and is a necessity for your body and mind, my point is: allow your injuries to heal but don’t use your injuries as an excuse. Don’t use anything as an excuse.
Don’t allow fear to stop you, Don’t give up and don’t quit, if you fall down, get straight back up!
Everything is a choice – always choose to be the best you can be.
