Mental Health Days

We go to the gym, we run, we work out our bodies until they are screaming out in pain.

We get massages, we have a sauna, we rest our tired bodies.

We know how to exercise our bodies, we know how to rest our bodies, we understand the warning signs and we know when to slow down.

We push ourselves to the limit, we stress ourselves to the point of fatigue and sickness.

We know we need to stop, yet we push ourselves further, we try to cram more into our lives, we try to please everyone.

We feel it is a sign of weakness to admit that we are feeling stressed, we don’t understand the warning signs and we don’t recognise when we need to slow down.

Taking ownership for your own well-being is smart, it is sensible and it shows strength.  Strength of character and self-awareness.

When your mind has been pushed to the limit and you need to slow down, recognise the warning signs, take a mental health day, take an afternoon if you can’t take a whole day, but take something.

Practice the art of resting your mind, look after yourself, nurture yourself.  Take that mental health day, no-one else will look after you, unless you look after yourself first.
