Today I am grateful for my house

Today is a public holiday, aside from going to the gym, I have spent the day in my house, trying to set up this blog and listening to music.

As part of this new blog, I will be updating one thing I am grateful for, at least once a week.  I invite you to do the same, whether you write it down or just allow yourself to give quiet thanks for something in your life.  Too often we get caught up in focussing on the negatives, let’s flood our minds with all the positives in our lives.

While the obvious choice for gratitude today would be the mid-week day off – today I choose my house.  I,  like lots of other people, wish for more!  I hate to admit it, but it’s true. I have looked at my house in disdain at all the little things that need fixing, I have stared wistfully at other houses and felt that pang of envy for the parts of them I wished my house could look like.

Today, rather than think of all the negatives, I am walking around my house smiling.  I own this house, (well not all of it yet, but I am steadily working towards that) and I am proud that I am a home owner.  I am grateful that my house is in a convenient location for me.  I am grateful that I have nice neighbours. I am grateful that my non perfect house is an open canvas for me to unleash my creativity on.

I look around at all the things we have done in our house to improve it, saving up over the years to gradually turn it into the house we love and I am extremely proud and happy with our achievements.

Today I am grateful for my house, and being grateful leaves me with a happy heart.
